Early Childhood/Parenting Education
At Partners for Our Communities (POC), the Early Childhood Developmental Enrichment Center (ECDEC) serves children between the ages of 3-5 who have been identified as at risk, and provides a daily preschool program. Children either attend in the morning or afternoon. All prospective students must go through a screening to determine eligibility for the program. ECDEC is a Preschool for All Illinois State Board of Education Grant funded program. More information is available at ecdec.org.
At both the POC main campus and at our Edgebrook campus, the FIND PI parental support program provides home visits, workshops, literacy development, story time, playgroups, and toy and book lending libraries. “Parents as Teachers” is used as the curriculum as well as the locally developed family literacy curriculum “Promise to Play”. The program focuses on children ages 0-3 and is funded by an Illinois State Board of Education Grant.
