Friends,

There are understandable fears in our community about ICE (immigration enforcement) activity. We are here for you at POC. I want to remind you of a few things.

  1. Remain calm. Have a plan and know your rights, and then go about your lives. Children should be in school, families should live their lives.
  2. Talk with your family about an emergency plan. POC is here to help you create one. Call us at 847-776-9500 (Palatine).
  3. Know Your Rights. Do not open your door for someone you do not know unless they have a signed judicial warrant. Do not sign something you do not understand. You have a right to remain silent. You have the right to speak with an attorney. We will help you find one.
  4. If someone you know has been detained by ICE or if you see ICE activity, call us or a statewide hotline at 855-435-7693.
